The purpose of Project Where Are The Kids? is to help create awareness and to inspire positive action revolving around kids and the outdoor industry. It is NOT a protest, and is certainly NOT intended to offend anyone! It is simply and expression of an idea that we feel needs to be addressed - kids getting more attention from the industry! It's about helping to make the outdoors more attractive for both kids that have a parent(s) that enjoys that outdoors, AND for kids that don't have anyone to take them or introduce them!
We understand fully the nature of the business side of the outdoor industry. We are trying to be a part of enhancing an industry that we are passionate about, and doing our part to ensure its survival. Don't think that's an issue? Please do some research on the decline of hunting and fishing license sales! AND, how more and more kids are hibernating inside nowadays. Most of them cannot relate to the adult oriented nature of the outdoor industry. We know that due to the feedback we have received from kids. Kids are the future of this industry, and they hold the key to its future existence!

We understand that the outdoor television industry depends on sponsorships to help pay for air time for the shows. Who buys the products that sponsors offer? Adults of course! Hence who helps pay the bills for the shows and sponsors? Again, the adults! However, someday very soon this current generation will be adults, and therefore become consumers. We feel they deserve a voice now. After all, one way or another they will, as a collective group, control the direction the outdoor industry takes for decades to come, both with products and TV shows!
The really good news is there are more and more outdoor shows and product companies that are showing that they truly care about helping involve kids in the outdoors for the right reasons!

Stick with us on this one, as this "project" will require some long-term thinking, and meaningful dialogue - even competing opinions. More to come...
